Job title – Electrical Design engineer
Location – Portsmouth
Salary - £38,000 - £45,000 Dependent on your experience and expertise within the industry.
 
We have a very exciting role with a highly established client in the Hampshire area looking for bright and talented electrical design engineers.
 
The right person for this role is someone who is looking for a long-term opportunity with an dynamic and exciting business that has a variety of highly technical and bespoke projects.
 
(You must have electrical design experience within the marine industry)
 
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Designing DC and AC marine power systems
Designing and integrating electrical control systems for boats
Improving existing designs for production
Integrating supplier equipment
Generating detailed 2D CAD production drawings and complete bills of materials
Controlled issuing of drawings for production
Capturing as built details and notes for reference and to aid future builds
Writing documentation including user manuals, test and acceptance schedules and build guides
Detailing cable runs and the hardware to support them
Assist with hands on production and prototyping as required
Creating test rigs for prototype equipment
Selecting commercial-off-the-shelf equipment and designing products around them
Specifying cables, connectors, containers and other components
Working knowledge of, and ability to work to, marine electrical standards
Knowledge of RF equipment including radios, cabling, antennas and connectors
Providing support to electrical and mechanical production staff
Control system commissioning and testing (in factory and at sea)
Factory and customer acceptance trials including sea trials
Working with sales engineers to estimate resources and timescales to develop electrical systems
 
Essential experience:
Designing DC and AC marine power systems
Designing and integrating electrical control systems for boats
Working in a marine environment
 
Desirable experience:
EMC and requirements of cable separation
Previous electrical enclosure mechanical layout
An understanding of electrical schematics
