Principal Radar Analyst

Working within a strong technical team for an industry leader, the individual will contribute to the development of current and emerging technology within the market. The successful individual will work within THE leading company for radar systems supporting the commercial and government markets.

Reporting directly to the R & D Engineering Manager, this is an exciting opportunity for a Subject Matter Expert to lead radar system analysis and modelling activities.

Key Responsibilities:
• Development of simulation models of radar and sub-systems
• Develop radar signal processing algorithms & radar performance prediction and assessment
• Utilise personal modelling and radar system knowledge as well as the experience from other Subject Matter Experts to solve multi-disciplinary technical challenges
• Participate and co-ordinate field trials
• Work closely with Sales and Systems Engineering teams in product selection
• Liaise internally and externally to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, taking management of engineering work packages
• Deliver technical presentations, reports and papers
• Mentor and provide leadership to others both within and outside of the team

Key Requirements:
• Degree within a related field from a reputable University
• Experience in MATLAB and other digital signal processing
• Strong knowledge of Radar and/or closely related applications such as; Sonar, Image Processing, Comms
• Cross-disciplinary knowledge and experience with Software Engineering, RF, Antenna or Radar Electronics, Systems or Mechanical Engineering, Project Management
• Experience of leading and motivating a team and delivering design on time and within budget
• Willingness to travel.
• Ability to gain UK Security clearance.
• UK Driving License.
Desirable Experience:
• Experience across the following is desirable;
Pulse Compression, Doppler Filtering, CFAR and Detection
Radar Video or Image Processing, Plot Extraction and Tracking
Phased Array Radar
• R&D background (papers, patents or novel design contributions)
• Comfortable with hardware test and debug using lab equipment
• Experience of source control and issue tracking tools (e.g. git / JIRA)
• Other commonly-used programming languages such as Python, C/C++
