Marine Resources are proud to be supporting an independent and established marina of over 150 years located on a beautiful stretch of the Thames in their requirement for a Yard Manager.
 
In a traditional but forward-thinking business, you will run a small cohesive team in the yard who undertake boat movements, storage, cleaning, maintenance and basic repair and maintenance services.
 
Primarily working with a range of day cruisers, this idyllic yard operates with a slip and tractor as such you must have experience with this.

The Yard manager reports to the Marina Manager, and they are responsible for the day-to-day management of the yard and yard team as well as the hands on work required in a busy yard. Ensuring an efficient, safe, organised and positively focused yard operation in a forward-thinking Marina.

Main Responsibilities:


  • A hands on approach is required for this role, getting stuck in to all work required in the yard: Lifting, chocking and launching vessels, , pressure washing, antifouling, polishing, interior valets, vessel maintenance and general upkeep of yard.
  • Maintain an organised and logical yard operation
  • Liaise with Marina Manager to prioritise work
  • Manage and direct logistics for all boat movements / storage
  • Oversee facility equipment: ensuring equipment is safe, operational and regularly serviced.
  • Maintain and co-ordinate upkeep of capital investments (i.e. buildings, grounds, pontoons, equipment, CCTV etc.)
  • Conduct routine safety/yard inspections, documents findings/observations and distributes to appropriate management personnel
  • Ensure proper storage and disposal of all materials, including paints, batteries, and fuels.
  • Perform works on all vessels (including chargeable, non-chargeable and sales boat works) and perform marina maintenance works.
 
Ideal Candidate Should Have:


  • Extensive yard work experience
  • Leadership experience
  • Motorboat handling qualifications would be desirable (training is available)
  • Computer literate and willing and able to learn new computer systems, products, concepts and techniques
  • Shows initiative to perceive and create solutions for what needs to be done
  • Full driving license
  • Ability to work weekends as needed for cover / boat shows (very occasional)
