Automation Engineer - Automation and testing engineer of electronic products.
Day rate £250 a day or £26 per hour
Hours full time - £37.5 hour week
12-month fixed contract (long term contract)
Primary Location – Fareham
 
We are recruiting for a market leader in design & manufacture of leisure marine electronics.
Our products include Radar, Sonar, Thermal & Visible cameras, instruments, ship control systems and many other leading-edge technology products.
 
Job Summary:
Working in an environment as a gap year student to practice Python programming & debugging skills, with support and coaching from software developers.
The successful candidate will be working alongside software developers and marine domain products testers, to deliver robust testing to our range of products and features. Automated software testing is carried out on every release using a Froglogic product called ‘Squish’.
Squish hooks into the UI of the main display unit and via a set of programmed test instructions and will exercise the code and produce a report containing the pass/fail results.
This process creates opportunity for an entry level programmer to practice debugging skills and to learn more about this method of test automation.  
This client uses an agile development program called ‘Scrum’ which is becoming a popular environment in industries who have core software development.
This is an excellent opportunity to experience this process in action and where and how it can add value to the process.
 
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Triage failing Python based scripts
  • Fix bugs in failed Python code
  • Maintain links to library functions
  • Create Python base ‘Squish’ tests
 
Job Qualifications:
  • Basic Python coding skills
  • Interest in gaining experience in using these skills in a commercial environment
