Marine resources have an opportunity for a project manager to join an established and expanding client who operate Asset Management, Facilities Management and Energy Solutions across the maritime and defence environments.

You will deliver projects with safety, budget to agreed standards from scope to completion and handover.

For this specific role, have experience of working with Cofferdams, Penstocks and Caisson’s. 

The projects will be either trade packages or main contractor delivered works as required by the Project Execution team at the naval base.

Key responsibilities / tasks will include:
  • Overall responsibility for the delivery of Projects
  • Accept scope of works from Programme manager
  • Developing programmes for the projects
  • Reporting on cost against Budget
  • Act as POC for the relevant project and Interacts with the Client, users and the team
  • Coordinate and agree work-plans with other stakeholders impacted by the projects.
  • Oversight of the design deliverable programme with the Design managers to produce required design information to enable the procurement of packages of work.
  • Lead the Cost Plan team to analyse and agree methods of project delivery, procurement routes and tender evaluation to present best value of money.
  • Work with Procurement to tender the works and evaluate returns
  • For Major Projects, work with the QS to raise the required Task Approval Form, TAF for client and MOD commercial acceptance of the project.
  • Raise Procurement requisitions, and management of contractor accounts with the QS (for Major Projects).
  • Working alongside Procurement to manage the contractual arrangements though NEC 4 (if applicable)
  • Ensure all the relevant preconstruction information that is needed to enable the effective commencement of works is available to the site manager.
  • Regular site visits to ensure that work carried out is delivered safely and is in line with both the agreed method statements and Zero Harm policies.
  • Ensure that progress against programme is regularly planned and reviewed, and all potential and/or actual risks as identified by the site management are quickly resolved or bought to the Prog Managers attention.
  • Providing practical completion including working with the Commissioning manager (if applicable) to provide a compliant project.
  • Provide liaison with the O&M team and provision of all relevant handover information and documentation,
  • Closure of project with Client and run lessons learnt review.
  • Maintain communication and good working relationships with all disciplines which supports company Purpose Vision and Values.
  • May supervise or guide one or more APM, and be involved in managing their delivery and performance and providing appraisal and support to their development.
Reporting duties including:

 Monitor and report progress to the Programme Manager at regular intervals.
  • Report on milestones on a weekly and monthly basis to meet the contract PIs and KPIs
  • Review contractor progress meetings.
  • Provide forecasted end dates and recommend recovery plans as needed.
  • Prepare and issue updates/reports and ad-hoc studies, analysis, and reports. In conjunction with the design manager
  • Manage personally controlled project documentation in an orderly manner
  • Assimilate information and summarising it in a manner that can be used to communicate the work scope to others
Advise and liaise with project client, stakeholder and end user and the Safe to Operate team as necessary.

Your key competencies will be:
  • Experience of working with Cofferdams, Penstocks and Caisson’s
  • Experience in delivering Projects <4M; and greater that 12 month duration
  • Good decision making skills
  • Communication and influencing – establishes communication routes, actively listens, clarifies, gives/seeks feedback, clear and concise, persuasive/negotiation
  • Organisational skills – plans well in advance, sets clear objectives, reviews progress against plan, ensures enough resources, encourages improvements

Qualifications:
  • ONC/OND or Graduate in Project Management, Building, Engineering or Architecture.
  • Professional Qualification in Engineering , Construction or Project Management
  • Safety training to ISOH or NEBOSH for managers
  • SMSTS
 Experience and Skills:
  • Experience in multiple discipline projects.
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations and British standards.
  • Knowledge of engineering construction aspects of delivering
  • Ability to work directly with the customer
  • Good oral and written English proficiency.
  • Good communication skills
  • Logical thinking and working in an ordered fashion.
  • Working knowledge of contracts and NEC 4
