Job Description

Reports to:
General Manager & Sailing Manager

The Chief Instructor must be suitably experienced and competent to deal with training, mentoring and compliance and course delivery, and sufficiently engaged with the operations of the Club to oversee all processes relating to course booking and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
• Work as part of a team to provide an enjoyable and safe training experience for students following the RYA programme
• Manage the course schedule with the assistance of Sailing Admin to help ensure:
o The Clubs' strategic objectives are met
o The students' requirements are met, and they are given opportunities to develop their sailing skills further
o The instructors are given a range of activities and stay motivated
• Manage the maintenance and housekeeping of the training yachts, to ensure efficient operation always
• Ensure a high standard of safety for students and staff is always maintained
• Maintain effective communication with the General Manager and Sailing Manager
• Ensure training yachts are set up as to meet RYA requirements
• Ensure that any changes in the SOPs are communicated to instructors, and that this is documented
• Provide support and guidance to instructors, and provide ongoing training as necessary
• Ensure that all yacht instructors are appropriately qualified
• Co-ordinate paperwork and instructors for all courses
• Always provide excellent customer service

Qualifications:
RYA Yachtmaster Instructor
Solid knowledge and understanding of the RYA Standards and Code of Conduct
Working knowledge of organising and delivering sailing courses
Two years previous experience in a related position

Skills:
Ability to work well with management, staff and sailors at all levels
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
Goal-oriented, organized team player
