British Marine, the trade association for the UK's Leisure Marine, Superyacht and Small Commercial marine Industry is actively recruiting for a highly experienced Commercial Director to successfully lead, manage, implement and deliver commercial strategy and success for the organisation.

The purpose of the association is to lead and promote the Marine Industry and work with their members to achieve sustainable growth in a competitive global environment through the provision of world class goods and services.

British Marine are at a very exciting stage of change and growth in its successful 100+ year history. Having recently restructured, repositioned and launched an exciting and ambitious new vision led by a new highly driven CEO. There has never been a more exciting and rewarding time to join at a Senior Executive level to help steer, influence and evolve the future shape of the entire marine industry.

Reporting directly to the CEO, and board and the membership itself, you will be a proven leader within a commercially focused and strategic role and have successfully developed and implemented commercial strategies, generated revenues from commercialising opportunities and been fully accountable for marketing and communications strategies. It's expected that you would have career experience within the marine industry and an impressive network.

British Marine is a not for profit' organisation which reinvests revenues to support its 1500+ membership, so you will have experience of representing and supporting your end customer and recognise that success in the role is measured not just on the success of events and delivery of projects but on the health and feedback of the industry and its members. Delivering a positive customer experience is paramount.

An outward facing senior leadership role, you will be a public face, ambassador and spokesperson for the marine industry and the association itself. You will have direct management of the marketing and communications team as well as the events team. Overview of all departmental activity, in particular member relations performance is also a big part of this important role.

To be successful you will have a high level of proven commercial experience and have the ability to manage and grow relationships with key clients. An in-depth understanding of market research methods and analysis as well as a solid knowledge of performance reporting and financial budgeting processes, matched with exceptional commercial and operational delivery experience is vital.

Based from British Marine's brand new, state of the art marina side offices in Ocean Village Southampton, this role presents you with an incredible opportunity to create and deliver all British Marine events both in the UK and overseas including the UK's largest Boat Show, Southampton International Boat Show'. Alongside this, working with a talented team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing all other key commercial generating revenue areas. Excellent organisational skills whilst being able to deliver exceptional results is key to success within this role.
