Our client is a global manufacturer of luxury motor yachts based on the beautiful south coast of England. This is an amazing opportunity to work for one of the leading designers and manufacturers of luxury motor yachts across the globe.

Job Role
Primarily focused on 3-D modelling and draughting of all composite mouldings from the hull, deck and superstructure through to small mouldings and some 1st Stage Fit-out. Support the team in all other Naval Architecture matters.

Main Aim
·To produce production drawings for all composite parts and Ist Stage Fit-out details using either Siemens NX 3-D software or AutoCAD 2-D as required. Ensuring all work is carried out within drawing office procedures and protocols.
·To model composite structures including hull, deck and superstructures as well as integral tanks and small mouldings. Work will also include 1st stage fit-out including Noise & Fire Insulation, soles and interior bulkheads.
·Structural design of all composite mouldings to meet Classification and weight/finish. Design must also work in harmony with interior design, machinery, systems and exterior fit-out.
·Produce accurate moulding weight estimates, bill of materials and costing of all composite parts. Ensuring designs are kept within project budgets.
·Lightship checks for vessels on the water.
·Support boat performance trials with the Test Team and conduct noise measurements on finished boats.
·Undertake inclining experiments and producing both intact and damage stability booklets to either C.E or Large Yacht Code may be required on occasion
·Good communication with production is key and regular visits to the production sites are essential to ensure good practical understanding of boat moulding and construction. These visits should also be used to help optimise the structural lay-up and design to standardise for production but taking in to account overall weight and cost.
·To be able to work on projects as part of a small and focused team as well as issuing design information to tight deadlines with minimum supervision where required. Communicate all design information clearly to others involved in the design and production of the project.

Qualifications/Experience:
·Honours Degree in Naval Architecture
·Preferably some work experience at boat building facility or boat design office

Skills:
·Ability to use 2-D and 3-D software is essential
·A good understanding of composite materials and their application in boat building would be ideal.
