A key player in the ship building industry is looking to grow the team with a Ship Manager.

Ship Managers are considered to be pivotal to the continued organisational growth, commitment to quality and success.

As a Ship Manager you will be the single point of contact through the life of the project for activities including maintenance periods, defect rectification and spares support. You will be responsible for ensuring a high material state and high operational availability, whilst also managing the budget to deliver required levels of planned maintenance.

Your main responsibilities as a Ship Manager will include:

-Managing the day to day schedule and communicate to teams effectively
-Drive productivity & efficiency
-Maximising gross margin, reducing cost & maximising sales
-Coordinate all trade disciplines & subcontractors to execute the works in timely and efficient manner
-Optimise resourcing levels
-Control cost of materials and consumables
-Adopt a continuous improvement ethos and be innovative
-Monitor performance, outputs & adjust as necessary
-Be commercial aware, understand build or buy'
-Be aware of Company codes, accreditations and standards and hold an understanding of each. (i.e. ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO18001)
-Responsible and accountable for the departmental adherence of QA/QC procedures, regulations and strictly enforces them with the workforce under his/her responsibility
-Is responsible and accountable for ensuring that all work under their control is carried out in accordance with company OH&S Management System
-Accountable for conducting regular inspections of work areas to identify and eliminate hazardous conditions and practices

Your skills and qualifications as a Ship Manager:

-Apprenticeship/HNC/HND Level qualification or equivalent service experience in Marine/Mechanical/Electrical
- Experience in maintenance and repair of Marine Vessels with an understanding of Planned Maintenance Systems



You will be a strong leader, with the ability to motivate teams as well as monitor and influence productivity & efficiency.

You will be proactive, a self-starter with an ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders at senior level. You will be highly organised, flexible with a pragmatic approach.
