Naval Architect/Design Engineer
Our Isle of Wight based client is currently looking for a proactive and talented Naval Architect/Design Engineer. Working on shipbuilding projects as a part of a medium sized team, the successful individual will be tasked with providing 3D basic and detailed designs as well as monitoring vessel development in terms of weight and structure.
Reporting to the Principal Naval Architect duties will include;
• Working with engineers to develop, manufacture and deliver products
• Provide technical solutions to deliver project goals
• Create detail design documentation
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures
• Create drawings in 2D & 3D
• Assist in designs for structure, engineering, electrical and electronics
• Aid in the selection of materials (BOMs)
• Produce final design specifications with other members of the team
• Maintain weight estimates and monitoring of as built vessel performance versus contract base line.
• Streamline processes where possible to reduce workload
Experience Required:
• Educated to degree level
• Experience in reading engineering systems schematics
• Proficient in Rhino or the ability to learn quickly
The right individual could come from a background in; ferries, high-speed craft, passenger liners, pleasure craft - yachts, power boats, etc, working vessels - fishing boats, rescue boats, etc or military or patrol vessels.
